Since I’m much more familiar with the US version than the Australian version, this would be a point worth checking with Xero directly. The company is currently in the midst of making some big changes to its reporting framework. As for the daily rate, you can handle that in pretty much any accounting/invoicing program by creating a service item for your day rate.

I’ve just corrected that error and brought the article completely up to date. Xero does offer automated invoice reminders and overdue notices. You can also send receipts by clicking a link each time you record a payment. (You can’t set up receipts to send automatically . . . yet.) As for “Thank You” notes, you can set up a custom email template to accompanies receipts, so that shouldn’t be a problem. So it makes no difference to me whether you buy Xero, QB Pro, Zoho Books, QBO, or something else. I want you to end up with a product that’s good for your business–and I hope you’ll buy something that’s a good fit on your first try .
Also they have a company on my Xero account which has nothing to do with me and I was able to access their information which obviously I did not want to do. QuickBooks has the more straightforward certification program, though the test does add in a hurdle. Xero’s certification is one step on a long road of points and kickbacks that can help you gamify your whole business and could lead to a major change in your workflow.

Sure it’s free now but to pay another $25 later just to have job costing is ludicrous! It may do more as well but the only thing I need is to be able to see profits from job to job one job at a time. And I agree with above that it’s a bunch of crap to say job costing should be done outside accounting software.
Yet Xero customer care (Misnomer?) keeps sending the same response with no attempt to resolve the matter or contact me directly. The service is non existant, I contacted them because my bankfeed don’t work.
